Multan: In the first T20 match, the South African women’s team defeated Pakistan by 10 runs.
In the match played at Multan Cricket Stadium, Pakistan’s team could only score 122 runs losing 5 wickets in 20 overs while chasing South Africa’s target of 133 runs.
During the chase, Pakistan lost their first 5 wickets for 47 runs. After that, Aliya Riaz and captain Fatima Sana played responsibly to stabilize the innings.
Despite bringing the team to the target, Aliya Riaz and Fatima Sana could not win the match. Aliya Riaz remained unbeaten with 52 runs, while Fatima Sana scored 37 runs not out.
Earlier, Pakistan’s captain, Fatima Sana, won the toss and chose to field first. South Africa scored 132 runs for losing 4 wickets in 20 overs, thanks to Tazmin Brits’ 56-run innings.
For Pakistan, Sadia Iqbal took 3 wickets, and Nida Dar claimed 1 wicket.
The remaining two matches of the three-match T20 series will also be played in Multan on 18 and 20 September.
